I promised I’d get a page up here. So…what better way to do that quickly than to throw Wordpress up and do things that way for a while!
So here I am again.
Allow me to tell you a bit about what is going to happen here. This blog (and the rest of the site, once I get finished) is about film photography. Yes, film. Stop laughing.
I shoot film. Exclusively. The only digital camera I own is on my phone, and that thing sucks more than Paris Hilton. There’s going to be a lot in here about shooting film in an area without a large camera shop at hand, street photography in a small Iowa town, and large format on a (very, very small) budget. If you’re lucky (and I find a scanner that can scan medium format negatives) you may even see PICTURES
I shoot with various things: 4 Lex35 (and clone) plastic cameras, a leaky Argus C3, a one speed Argus C3, a Kiev 4a, a Canonet 28, A Yashica MG-1 (with no meter and one shutter speed due to battery sourcing problems), an Agfa folder, and (soon) a Crown Graphic monstrosity that will finally move me solidly into the large format arena. At the moment I shoot the Kiev the most because it has my prize possession on it: a Zeiss Opton-Sonnar 50mm f/1.5 lens. The thing is remarkable for something that has to be nearing 55 years old. It’s my street cam, and you’ll probably see a lot from it.
Good enough for introductions methinks. Hopefully, anyway.

While I barely remember struggling, juggeling so, I do have a couple of “scenes”. Reading photo mags in the grocery store while my toddler did her thing, until I noticed a puddle on the floor. And, having her “ride” while standing on my foot and her arms wrapped around my leg as I developed film or made prints in the darkroom. She probably doesn’t remember that, but she did become a shooter and we were very thick for 30 years until our values become very black and white and we both were grayed out.
